Slade – Run Runaway Lyrics 15 years ago
I think I've figured out what this song is about...It's right there in the very first verse...

"I like black and white (dreaming of black and white)
You like black and white"

What does liking what's black and white mean? It means we like things that are spelled out to us, things we are sure of things w no gray areas...

"See there chameleon
Lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run run away"

A chameleon is something that changes its color depending on the setting, in other words, it's not predictable, not spelled out and confusing...so what do we do when confused and uncertain? We run away...

He makes several references to love...
"If you gotta crush (don't beat about the bush)"

I believe the main message of this tune is if you have feelings about someone don't be afraid to put it out there and face and uncertain response on the other parties part...that you have to be willing to risk

Damien Rice – Elephant Lyrics 15 years ago
nice interp, But...ever hear the expression "white elephant"?

(lifted from Wiki for convenience sake)..." a white elephant is an idiom for a valuable possession of which its owner cannot dispose and whose cost (particularly cost of upkeep) is out of proportion to its usefulness or worth"

Look no further for your "painted elephant".

Damien Rice – 9 Crimes Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't believe that this song is about cheating per se...the cheating is only a means to an end...what I hear is Damien who is in a relationship with someone he loves but who doesn't or can't return his feelings or give him what he needs to be happy, someone who clearly holds all the power in the relationship...it's as if he's saying that it makes him feel like garbage to go against all he feels for her but he is considering allowing himself to do something (cheat physically or emotionally with someone who is clearly in his periphery) to end this relationship, to kill it....she won't 'commit' care enough to choose one way or another and by giving away his 'loaded' gun I don't believe he means anthing overtly sexual I believe he means his full heart that is committed to her but which is hopelessly unfulfilled...he hopes for an unlikely reaction from her, nearly pleads for one (i.e. please stop me) yes? no? yes...no?

I think he desperatly wants her to stop him but knows that she won't which is why the song is dredged in resignation, and is so hauntingly sad, with a cadence like a death march into the cold future w/o her....brilliant, brilliant song.
