I think it's a paralelism between he's love for someone and a hunt. "High above yer shadow smiles at me. Way down below I hear you serenely breathe." Hunt interpretation: Seems like a invitation to a fight for me. Love interpretation: But also is a very comfortable scene "I'm running after you throughout the valleys of tormented souls, don t you be afraid of me only kissing your shadow... Love interpretation: He goes through horrible things to reach her, he needs her, like a hidden protector/lover. Hunt: He is looking for footprints (shadow). His victim is running away but leaves clues, and feels like it wants to be hunted ("And if you truly want I ll cross the line I ll follow") "I m kissing the shadows you surround me with, to feel my pain vanishing away from me. I believe this song is about all frontmen whose egos are improved by the success and becomes blind of it, thinking that they are the same as in their roots... And he can't tell names cause he is a frontman too. But the phrase "Or throw stones in a house of glass" reminds me the biblical phrase "who is free from sin, throw the first stone", and i believe this phrase that he thinks he is free from "sin" (be blind of himself) but he could be so he won't start a battle he could lose... Or something like that :P |
