| It should read "latter days" not "later days". Clearly its how it is pronounced in the song. | |

"At least... that's what I get out of the song. Still can't quite put my finger on what the reaper and sower are supposed to represent, though... " The reaper and sower are like the life-taker and the life-giver. The forces of destruction and creation, death and birth, etc. Her personification of these archetypes is what instantly drew me to this song. The "we each disturb the earth" part is especially profound - the idea that birth and creation is just as much an upheaval as death or destruction, and that they are really working in tandem with each other, dependent upon each other. Beautiful. I think one of her most pensive and spiritual works to date. I liked the "latter days" reference too - adds an interesting 1800's reference (beginning of LDS) along with a cool touch of enthusiastic fatalism. There are some images I have yet to unravel (lol her imagery is like a Buddhist koan you have to meditate upon) but I like that incompleteness. It keeps it intriguing. If everything was easy, it wouldn't be as captivating. |

| Lady GaGa – Poker Face Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Some of what they have up at Wikipedia's page for the song: Gaga stated in an interview that "Poker Face" was written by her as a pop song and was a tribute to her "rock 'n' roll boyfriends." She also stated that the main idea behind the song was sex and gambling.[5] In an interview with UK's Daily Star, Gaga noted of the song, "It's about a lot of different things. I gamble but I’ve also dated a lot of guys who are really into sex and booze and gambling, so I wanted to write a record my boyfriends would like too."[6] During her Fame Ball Tour performance at Palm Springs, California, on April 11, 2009, Gaga explained to the crowd the true meaning behind the term "Poker Face" used in the song. She suggested that the song dealt with her personal experience with bisexuality. The idea behind the song was to be with a man but fantasizing about a woman, hence the man in the song needs to read her "Poker Face" to understand what is going through her mind.[8] Link is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poker_Face_(Lady_Gaga_song) Surprisingly well cited for a wikipedia article. I love how many people on her were like "oh, she's a whore!" or some other ****. Because of course. if a woman actually wants to have sex, she must be a whore. There was seriously a guy on another site who described her lyrics as "feminist" and then went on to say "And then people get surprised when guys hit girls for breaking their hearts indiscriminately." So its ok to hit women, and of course Lady Gaga is to blame. wtf. I'd like to note that she never talks about breaking anyone's hearts or anything in this song, so I have no idea what the guy who posted that is on. Gaga is my hero, because now that she's out of the closet, she's becoming even more fearless and a good example of a chick who doesn't give a flying f*** what people think. And of course, anti-feminist woman haters (which sometimes sadly are women) go around saying, among other things, that she has a penis. Because of course that must be the only explanation for a woman who does what she wants and doesn't care about society judging her. |
