This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I literally put my ipod on repeat and listened to this song over and over again, until I was done crying..makes me cry every time. In my personal opinion, this song is about the ups and downs of love; love slipping away...and coming back. Not always just the perfect romance. So close that door. Is this happening? At first I thought that she no longer loved him, and he couldn't believe he was watching her go. We're both flying away. I interpreted this as the both of them growing apart, no longer knowing how to feel about one another. A loss as the both of them "fly away" on their seperate directions, a strong connection slowly weakening. So we talked, about moms and dads, about family pasts, just getting to know where we came from. I first interpreted this as the two trying to find things to talk about, having a hard time: trying to figure out how they came to one another in the first place. What willed them toward the other. I raised my hand as if to show you that I was yours. That I was so yours for the taking, I'm still so yours for the taking. He is trying to prove to her that she is all he wants, and is willing to give things up in order to be able to be with her. And I'll try to sleep to keep you in my dreams, till I can bring you home with me I thought of this as them not being together, and him trying his hardest to get her back in his mind, and dream about her, although she may no longer love him. In the end, they are together and discovering their unconditional love towards one another. So, this is just my interpretation(: |

| This song is beautiful. To me, it is about a couple who used to have something strong. They were able to "leave everything behind" and live in the moment, just the two of them. But as time passed, they started growing apart, and started to no longer feel love for one another. Only an emptiness. "Like brothers on a hotel bed" is comparing them to..well..brothers on a hotel bed. hahah. They may be sleeping on the same bed, but there is no longer any connection between them. "And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men." This means that the two of them are longing for something new. I love this song. One of the best on the album, right up there with What Sarah Said(: | |
