I agree that this is one of her best songs ever! She is very talented and I especially loved her back when she first came out. I don't care about the times she fell down. This isn't about an offical relationship between a man and woman. It think it is about when you love someone who doesn't really know you love them. You are wanting to reveal your true feelings for them, but you don't know how they feel about you or how they will react. This explains the: "You are, my fire. The one, desire, Believe, when I say I want it that way." The man is secretly in love with the woman and is saying he wants her and only her. He wants it to stay that way. The only way that could change is if he gets rejected. They are "two world apart" and he can't "reach to her heart." So, he is keeping his feelings to himself at first. I am so glad someone even wrote a song with such beauty and meaning. It is nice that although music isn't this anymore, it was once magnificent. I am actually only 18 years old. But, this song means so much to me. I grew up listening to this type of great music. My now deceased father played this song and he loved it dearly. I fell in love with song at a young age and I will always love it. This song is so sweet and I agree that is takes you back to a time when respect and love were a part of music. Now, it is very messed and shallow. But, the new type of music makes us appreciate great songs like this more. The theme is a man talking about a woman he cares about greatly. He is telling her that she is his light and hope in life (shinning star). If she leaves him or fell out of love with him he would be lost and heartbroken. He wants to love her forever. I was wondering too. But, now I think it means that he is a player and he tells every girl he wants he loves her and that she is the best. This is his tactic to get her to bed. That's why I think he is saying "She made me beg for it, until she give it up." She didn't just give it up right away. He kind of had to throw in some smooth talk in there, so it is kind of like he had to beg for it. With "Cause she hold me down, everytime I hit her up," I think he is saying that the girl lets him come over whenever he calls. So, maybe at first she seemed easy.
