| The Cure – High Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song always makes me think of that ecstatic, giddy, "high" we feel when we begin dating someone. It's a type of feeling that simply can't last forever. Upon realizing that the feeling has faded away, Robert Smith might have felt like the relationship was going downhill, and wanted to leave. After trying to, he realized what he almost gave up and started feeling that same high once more. | |

Seginustemple and tonemadson seem to know what they're talking about. I'm just throwing in my two cents. "Weather changes moods Spring is here again Reproductive glands" makes me think of that change in mood once Spring arrives. Generally people feel more energetic and hornier. "Bruises on the fruit Tender age in bloom" makes me think about the "tender age" when kids finally starting to become interested in sex. They become "bruised fruit", or damaged goods because they are losing their innocence, or at least considering it. |

| No, she didn't. This was recorded before he even met her and before Dave Grohl was even in the band. | |
| David Bowie – All the Young Dudes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Some of this has been said before, but I'm posting this as further proof this is a song about glam rock. It is not a gay anthem, although gender bending and cross-dressing, as well as homosexual behavior, were very much part of the glam rock scene. Note the references to T. Rex, Freddy Mercury, ect. and the rejection of the Beatles and Stones era. There's also reference to society's rejection of (what was at the time) the newest type of rock in the lines "Television man is crazy saying we're juvenile delinquent wrecks." and "Oh brother you guessed I'm a dude now". I'm not 100% sure on this, but think the line "And Freddy's got zits from picking off the stars from his face" refers to Freddy Mercury ripping those big glittery sticker like things that were shaped like lightening bolts or stars off his face. I imagine they left a red mark like how there's temporary redness on your face after getting your eyebrows waxed. | |

This is a song about glam rock. It's not meant to be a "gay anthem", but more so a glam anthem. Though gender bending and cross-dressing, as well as homosexual behavior, were very much part of the glam rock scene. Note the references to T. Rex, Freddy Mercury, ect. and the rejection of the Beatles and Stones era. There's also reference to society's rejection of (what was at the time) the newest type of rock in the lines "Television man is crazy saying we're juvenile delinquent wrecks." and "Oh brother you guessed I'm a dude dad". I'm not 100% sure on this, but think the line "And Freddy's got spots from ripping off the stars from his face" refers to Freddy Mercury ripping those big glittery stickers like things that were shaped like lightening bolts off his face. I imagine they left a red mark like how there's temporary redness on your face after getting your eyebrows waxed. |
