Rasputina – Our Lies Lyrics 15 years ago
Melora says :
"We had a contest on the website and we asked people to submit their best lie and we got a huge response with 100's and 100's of people sending in these lies. There wasn't any single lie that was good enough to make a song so I smooshed 15 of them together."

My favorite is the "I'm straight and I love your coffeecake". lol

Rasputina – AntiqueHighHeelRedDollShoes Lyrics 15 years ago
Melora herself said that this song is written about an ebay listing for antique high heel red doll shoes, and the lyrics are taken from a 1980 doll catalogue.

"I got the song title from an eBay listing for antique high heel red doll shoes and I got the rest of the words for that song from a doll catalogue from the 1920's."

It was just something she did for fun. Probably just to fill up the album.

Rasputina – Gingerbread Coffin Lyrics 15 years ago
Exact quote from Melora herself regarding this song..

"I think kids and children can naturally be pretty dark if left to their own devices. It's always been pretty important to me in my life to keep child-like feelings alive and not to forget what that's like. So with that song, I remember doing weird stuff with my friends like hiding in the bushes and making weird ceremonies. I was just trying to recapture that feeling."

There ya go. =)

Rasputina – 1816, The Year Without A Summer Lyrics 15 years ago
Rasputina is alot more literal than people like to think.

I followed interviews and stuff quite closely that referred to this album.

This song really is about 1816, BUT the reason she decided on the topic was because of the recent climate debates. It's kinda like she was just saying "Hey, weird weather has happened before...read your freakin' history" lol.

The whole album is pretty literal, it's almost like a tribute to those who went through it in the past though. It's a reminder.

When she comes out with a song, I automatically look at it and say "Okay Melora, what are you referring to?" Then I hit the history books. =P

She usually always refers to something real. It's not super often that it has a hidden meaning.
