Sixpence None the Richer – Kiss Me Lyrics 14 years ago
First keep in mind the band's history...
Matt Slocum and Leigh Bingham Nash both attended New Braunfels home of the fighting Unicorns

Yes I said Unicorns.....Alma Matre
"New Braunfels High I sing to the with love and loyalty
My heart is filled with love for you and ever shall it be
My comradship I'll never forget and aver shall it be
the blue and white for truth and right shall live for ever more"

For grins look at the classmate of Leigh wbo became a photographer http://www.gingerdiaz.com/ also
http://www.plumeyer.com/Plumeyer_Main/Plumeyer_Main.html

I have often wondered if the flooding series begining 1998 had occurred some 20 years previous.
Leigh was in 7th grade when Crowded House released "Don't Dream its Over" which the band also covered

There is a fictional story of a cross-country team New Braunfels that is set Leigh's Senior Year the depcition of the hometown is far less flattering but according to many who were there accurate to the otherside and powerful nature of the town that gave brith to Six Pence None the Richer.
For the record yes there was confirmed one ex nazi scientist stashed in New Braunfels under 2 miles from the high school Leigh Nash and Matt Slocum attendend..

The Band – The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down Lyrics 15 years ago
I have read the historical interpertation Stoneman tore up supply lines and captured Confederate Troops. Probably best use of a Telecaster subtle but ripping. One of the best songs ever written.

Willie Nelson – Pancho And Lefty Lyrics 15 years ago
THe video and even Townes highlights betrayal and the sardonic reaction of Federales allowing Panch to go on. Lefty betrayed Pancho. Irony is a heavy theme in TX music

Sixpence None the Richer – Kiss Me Lyrics 15 years ago
Ok you want to know New Braunfels late 80s early 1990s want to know the ideal want to see the beauty of clear water flowing over limestone with rivers full of fish and turtles listen to this song. I have used this song as a quick and effective way to describe to classmates I graduated with the world I left behind. Keep in mind the mascot at New Braunfels high is the Unicorn. Have fun looking up bios of Leigh and Matt and start looking at photos of the Comal, Gaudalupe , Gristmill and Gruene.

Robert Earl Keen, Jr. – No Kinda Dancer Lyrics 15 years ago
Solid slice of life early Robert Earl Keen. Most of those older dance halls are closed down but back even inthe early 60s around Banderra, Boerne, Fredricksburg, New Braunfels and whole host of other small dots on the map its as authentic as Carlton's Kolbassa.

Robert Earl Keen, Jr. – Rolling By Lyrics 15 years ago
One of Robert Earl Keen's earliest. A must listen I can clearly hear the quarter rests in the orginal reocrding opening up wide open spaces musically. If you have never been to West Texas this song captures much of the scenery and the essance. Bleak wide open still dangerous desolate less then hospitable.

Midnight Oil – Blue Sky Mine Lyrics 15 years ago
I am bi racial. The song was released and in familar to me before a visit it was not to hard to figure out I would later read the full visit. I would make a visitto my family in Canberra Australia summer 1991. My uncle (he's old enough to by my grandfather) saw Latvia and his father one step ahead of Soviets. Proably the cruelest irony of WWII is how the Nazi's behaved his own Uncle was in a DP camp and my Uncle was in the Nazi military. It was a conversation in a living room in a house in Canberra when I realized how close to this song came to nearly .....describing his fate. He was given the option of working....the Blue Sky mine or working lumber camps to become a naturalized Australian citizen. We then saw pictures of the lumber camps.

Mike And The Mechanics – Silent Running Lyrics 15 years ago
I was in 4th grade when this song came out.....the concept of world at war and a resistance was real. The video had to contain aliens and other events. I was powerful apolocyptic. 99 Luft balloons was tounge and cheek.....the potential of an apologytic war between East and West was real. People now assume the falling of the Cold Wars end was inevitable. I remember a sense of wonder when the Berlin wall fell. I could see this video (I never saw it till today) a massive war. The Soviet Union seemed a whole lot more powerful then it was. In summer 1991 I recall writing an oratory expecting the Latvians to still struggle for indepdnence only to have it rendered obsolete.....
