To tell the truth, I don't know much about UK/US politics, and I live in Chile, like, reeaaally far away. Yet I'm fairly certain George Bush's influence - however negative- influenced majorly on virtually the whole world. So, in the chance it WAS directed to him, what's it to you? as artists, singers are allowed to breach practically any topic, the objective of singing a song is to express our opinions/feelings/etc. not to start a battle between which if the countries is crappier politically. I know it was said that it was not actually about Bush, but still what should be looked and focused is not the target of the words, or at least not looking further into it than 'a polititian, a governor, etc'- but instead notice the words, i.e. the violence and harshness of the lyrics covered by the uplifting melody and chirpy tones, and the real hatred she feels, presented in a way which suggests she is expected to hide her disapproval but can't actually help it (see the poorly hidden barbs and insults) There. |

No one of the band is gay (not that we know about, at least.) Alex Kapras said about the origin of the song: "It was one night when me and the band were out with friends from Glasgow, and we went to this warehouse dance party thing called Disco X. It was a very debauched night and these two friends got it together in a very sexy way." So, no, they are not gay, but I do believe seeing something like that causes a great impression (just in case, that wasn't meant in a bad way at all). |

I am pretty sure it shoud say 'token lust' instead of 'token lost'.. it makes a painful amount of sense... Really powerful song, full of pain and, resignation? maybe. It is laced through with determination, so it's a weird kind of resignation, like he's determined to act resigned, 'cause he knows it's the best thing to do. Dunno, really, 'cause it can be interpreted a thousand other ways, but that is how it sounds to me. |

Sabre = Taste Comedia de l'arte = Comedy of art; refers to an 'artistic' comedy or something. It makes more sense in Spanish anyway. |

This songis brilliant. I heard this song before knnowing Meritt was gay and just thought 'I must be going insane, but I can swear he's singing about a man'. It's so cool the way he can talk about a man without actually using any words specifically.I mean, I read the lyrics and tried to imagine it about a woman, but it sounded so wrong in my head. Prolly because it sounded so right the other way around. Beautiful song, so much feeling disguised, it's almost painful. How he makes everything sound so unimportant... |

True. And yet, there's something else there... The Markyria Poem, Tolkien's largest Quenya poem: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/markirya.htm there's the translated version. It's such a beautiful song. It's the sweetest death song I've ever heard. This is a portrayal of Death in such a maternal, love-filled way, it's impossible not to be affected. "And all will turn to silver glass A light on the water Grey ships pass Into the west." the silver glass as the moon and the night as death, and yet at the same time, the night is described so fully and magically its heartbreaking. Cameron must've been one hell of a friend. Makes me sad, he, as you accurately said, would've had a bright future ahead of him. |

| Lykke Li – Dance, Dance, Dance Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I believe the meaning is much more simple... Dancing is like a metaphor... or maybe for the singer it's literally dancing, but 'dancing', I believe, is what makes us free, confortable, is what makes us who we are. She's shy and has troubles getting the message across so she does what she does best, she dances, hoping that he will understand the message. She's telling him to look for the message, "it's written in the dust/air/sand." Saying she was a dancer "all along", probably means she had tried various other methods to express until she finally found dancing. In "Words can never make up for what you do", she's alluding once again to her lack of expressivenes (if that's even a word). She feels so strongly, words cannot say what she feels, so she dances, and hopes to convey that beautiful message; cause really, once you find what your 'dancing' is, everything seems so much easier. |
