| Portishead – Small Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
the song is about lesbianism i think. She (the other partner) spok of "freedom in a way" from the traditional male-female relationship and that sh is "hating the lord," and saying that he is "just a man, open to scorn (and judgement)," and wouldn't understand what it's like to be a gay woman? the line "A wisdom that took me away from the bed" perhaps indicates that she's bitten the "second apple" and again taken hr away from the traditional bed/relationship? but again i could be totally off base |

| Suzanne Vega – Pornographer's Dream Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"Wouldn't he dream of the thing that he never could quite get the touch of?" This line struck me the most. Why would he, a pornographer, dreams of a woman when he has seen so much of, plenty and oftentimes .. naked? No, he doesn't dream of a girl/woman/potential doll, but what he truly desires is that one sensation to be close to someone you love. He, because of his "profession", has lost his touch and thus appreciation for the true "woman" so to speak, as all he sees in them are such "thigh, of the flesh upon high" and such. Seeing them as work... This is why he can't have what he really want deep down... "Out of his hands Over his head Out of his reach Under this real life Hidden in veils Covered in silk" The chorus just indicates the fact the his dream for a "true" woman is out of his reach, yet hidden "under his real life, in veils, in silk", his profession. He could never find love... |

| Jupiter One – Unglued Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
some types here and there, the correct ones should be Clouds above the cemetery, Can't even tell the time of day, They give nothing away, Reading names of people past, They're so very close and Far away, But who am I to say? Trees obscure the borderlines, There's big weeping willows, All around, Their branches weight them down. Remember when we, Came unglued To float by the window? The neighbors must have had a laugh We love to put on a show. For people who would try to deny We'll show 'em the pictures. The only thing that bothers me now Is why remember it here? Is it true, As I walk along the beach Beside you, That nothing in the world can Find you? Here's to you! Let the growing of the trees Remind you, That everything is now behind you. Ear against a mausoleum, Eyes on a broken wristwatch hand My feet still caked with sand. Remembering when we Came unglued I feel like my heart is beating fast I can't seem to relax And people never used to smile When posing for portraits It must have been a different time. No phony, elastic grin. I feel like that's the real me. Straight face and a blank stare. Looking like I never win, But I feel fine. Twice in my life I've been sure that A wall was the edge of the world |

| Damien Rice – The Blower's Daughter Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I thought the girl said "oh didn't i say that i love you? didn't i say that i want you leave it all behind?" my girlfriend broke with me recently, and i listened to this song again and i found out the bitter truth "Oh, did I say That I loathe you? Did I say That I want to leave it all behind?" I can't take my mind off of you, Kayla ... I love you |

| Damien Rice – Cannonball Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| all the beautiful contradictions. this song is a beautiful paradox itself. love is contradictory in its own nature. how it supposes to make to happy. and it does just the opposite. Funny the way it is. | |
