Good catch on the lyrics. But man, no way, the song is referencing the Provos movement in Amsterdam around 1965-66 which was basically a pre-Hippy movement. As one of their protests, they painted their bikes white and left them around the city for the people of the city to use. Their aim: Promote ecologie(they were the first to do so, followed strongly by the Hippies), and denouce consumerism of our society, and of course freedom: "Policeman shouts but I don't see him They're one thing I don't believe in": The police compromise freedom and protect consummerism and pollution (cars, industrie) "The wind is blowing in my hair" |
