Mogwai – Travel Is Dangerous Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is almost painful to listen to when you realise it is about the kursk, or at least that is what I believe. The air running out comment is accurate, though 95 of 118 men on the kursk died from the explosions, the other 23 that did survive died between 6 and 36 hours after it sunk (enough time to write notes, which the russians found) They took refuge in the 9th compartment and died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
But what really leads me to believe that this song is in fact about the Kursk is this set of lyrics:

'Sink, sink
Drowned by our country
Dead, and she
Is cursed, old and rotten
Never to surface again.'

This gets across how the russians were reluctant to save these men and how they even denied help from other countries to save them, so they were essentially drowned by their country. It is terribly sad.

Burial – Rough Sleeper Lyrics 12 years ago
I always hear it as stay around rather than stay alive... Just my interpretation I guess, there isn't really any way we'll know for sure, either!

The National – Hard to Find Lyrics 12 years ago
Yes, I feel very much that it's about looking back on that one person whom you've broken up with, knowing it would never work out. But you keep looking back, remembering them in a nostalgic sort of way, knowing you'll never forget them. The feeling of love and the possibility of ever being with them again has long gone, but you still remember how you felt for them before. Like the ghost of a feeling, in a way.

New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle Lyrics 12 years ago
I adore this song, it always used to be one of mine and my ex's favourite songs but ironically, he was a piece of shit and I ended up in a bizarre love triangle with my current boyfriend of 4 years. Couldn't be happier. It always makes me think of how even though my ex treated me like a piece of shit it was still hard to leave him, because we'd been together for a long time and I wasn't sure of what laid ahead. Especially with 'Every time I see you falling, I get down on my knees and pray. Waiting for that final moment, You say the words that I can't say.'
You look for the confirmation that you love them and they love you, and you finally do something about it. It's a really confusing feeling.

The National – Sorrow Lyrics 12 years ago
I've always heard it as 'half a heart.' and to me it makes sense, because in the vine like grip of depression you can't give everything you've got to someone you love; It takes everything from you and restricts it. It also makes sense to me as 'I don't wanna get over you.' suggests that the person he loves left him, more reason to only have half a heart.

Deftones – Entombed Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the nature of the lyrics and the way he sings the song say it all, it's about Chi. At the chorus, you can almost hear that break in his voice, the one you hear when someone's talking to you on the brink of falling apart. Heart-breaking, really. My favourite song on the album though, it's beautiful.

Joy Division – Disorder Lyrics 14 years ago
I feel that this song is about his epilepsy, but the reason why the song could be read in many different ways and associated with is because the whole song conveys the lack of control perfectly. The drumbeat is almost like a frantic heartbeat, and as the song progresses the panic in the music and his voice grow until they cannot be contained. This is by far my favourite Joy Division song after many, many years listening to them, because the emotion of song is very familiar to my own heart.
