"If the truth were to be known now, I guess I'd probably say I do." On Lovely Creatures he sings: "The absence of air comes on in a flash Its all make-believe its all smoke and ash Its all make-believe its not made to last" but live, I hear him replace the second make-believe with "'cause yesterday's gone it's nothing to last it's just Trash" |

I've heard this live six times since June'08: it's a challenging puzzle. I have only heard the extra verse once and i think he jumbled the lyrics about the bear. My version (from House of Blues, Dallas): "Clouds that hang up in the sky Lies wallow in the light We'll be okay, we'll be alright Like a blind man in the night Like a flower in the sun Like a dog when the day is done Like a bear of the forest in the rainy meadow I might be all wet but feelin' no pain You take money and I'll take the jewels You got the clock and I got the tools Don't worry 'bout the cops, Got a getaway plan Tell 'em your with the band I'll be you're friendly neighborhood Spiderman Ain't no junkie... just hangin' with the monkeys" The Red Dog beer company used to sell their beer in 40 ounce bottles (college days), which were the cheapest buzz you could buy and went together perfectly with a cheap pack of smokes, if you were a poor college kid. Also the line " We'll turn a close shave into a 'Woo-Hoo!' " Have you ever done something really stupid because you were young and in love, like trying to beat a train, and the car almost stalls just as you fly over the tracks; as the train roars past, its horn blaring, you look at each other and yell Woo-Hoo! because the adrenaline reminds you how great it is to be alive. that's my interpretation. And I swear he sings "you're the color of a verdant brook..." because it evokes the image of a very green, pastoral, romantic place of peace and serenity. |
