Beautiful song. I agree that it's about a girl. The drug interpretation is just way too straight forward, and it doesn't make much sense if you look at the song collectively. The "Just enough to get you fucked up/Not so much that it drives you away" line, I think, means he's hooking with her just to get the physical sensations of lust, but not the emotional sensation of love which is a deeper void. I think it was a long distance relationship, or it ended up being distanced emotionally and/or physically. And the last line - "We're no good at this," may be how she ended the relationship (if there was one) because this line is preceded by "...remind me of what you said" |

Are you all too fucking dumb to look at their actual website which has most song lyrics posted?: Hi Scars will heal soon The dregs in us spent the earth down Better than drowning in a burlap sack I live. As Alice. I die. Children shouldn't play with dead things Foaming crows Tear at their wings Sad eyes cry crimson blood Drop it it's dead Wheels won't turn they won't turn the birdy's head Sad eyes sad eyes like sharpened daggers You'll never walk only stagger Sad eyes quite cryptic Bye http://crystalcastles.com/lyrics/2008/#Alice-Practice Now for what it means... |

"Red is a 4 letter word, 4 letter invitation," is the most confusing part of this song for me. in comparison to some of CTTS's other masterpieces, the meaning of this one as a whole is easier to figure out, but this line makes no sense literally. I wonder what "red" is referring to. I have 2 ideas, but I'm going to do a close reading of the lyrics later this week and try to figure out something more plausible. Anyone have any clarification? |
