| Van Morrison – Queen Of The Slipstream Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Well, sorry to burst the bubble here, but a "slipstream" is not what keeps a plane aloft, it's the air BEHIND the aircraft (the wake), which in a way gets sucks along a little. It's the point at which the air passing around the moving object meets and is not moving, like a buffer. In terms of Nascar racing, if a car sits in the slipstream it doesn't need as much pedal to keep the speed up, the car creating the slipstream assists the one in the slipstream. The wings produce their own lift, there is no current of air keeping them aloft. So, with that come up with a better interpretation of what the "slipstream" in the song is about. |

"That is about leaving the city to go feed cows in green pastures."?? That's a real reach dude!! "Working for The Man every night and day," refers to the first line, ie: he left a good job where he was working night and day. He's not saying he LEFT the city yet, just he left the job which he had in the city. he bummed around this city for a while doing odd jobs, then found the river boat. Again, how'd you get anything about "feeding cows"? It's as out there as saying that he was part of the catering crew on a porn set, where he washed dishes. It's OBVIOUS isn't it? I know that interpetion is what it's all about, but WOW! There are some serious nutters out there. I say that with the greatest affection incidentally, I'm a total nutter ;) At least by visiting this site I found out that the River Boat Queen was named Proud Mary. |

It doesn't even sound like "pain", I only ever heard "tane" on the recording. Maybe you were listening to a really bad mp3? You could I suppose interepret "tane" in your meaning as a slightly coloquialised version of "tang" or "poontang". It was a highly entertaining interpretation, thanks for the laughs, but sheesh!! It reminded me of "Don Juan D'Marco" with Johnny Depp where he's doing the psych test telling the shrink what he sees in those big ink smudges on flash cards. |
