Jon Foreman – Again Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is Awesome. Jon Foreman is so great at taking scripture and putting it to music. This song is (unless I am mistaken) Foreman's modern spin on Jehoshaphat's prayer in 2 Chronicles 20
"5 Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the LORD in the front of the new courtyard
6 and said:
"O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you..."

He goes on later to say: "...We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you."

Prayers like this can be found all through the Old Testament. Another likely inspiration for the lyrics is in 1 Kings 18:36-37:

36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.
37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again."
