Oh, and "just the slight jingle of pocket change pulsing" can literally mean the sound of the two men in the Berlin basketball court but it can also be figurative or a metaphor for "it's no big deal" Like, just the slightest decimal of the denomination you adhere to (despising homosexuals) It's just pocket change to accept them. Let it go. (parallels to the 'wall' in Berlin, but then I'm reading WAY too into it.) |

Jellyfish start out as polyps, where they exist just to float around feeding on microscopic stuff floating in the sea, or attaching to a rock or boat-bottom in order to obtain nutrients. Then they reproduce asexually, dividing into what we know as the jellyfish: the translucent animal that swims around and sting us. There is a certain species of jellyfish that can sort of reverse this process when it's injured or when there is no food: it reverts back to a polyp and either floats dormant or attaches to an object, starting over and then maturing into a jellyfish. I dunno which of the two types of jellyfish this song pertains to. But I'm guessing a superfast jellyfish coming in last but still just in time for breakfast (just to eat) is Damon's / Gorillaz's Plastic Beach metaphor for humanity refusing to advance itself and evolve, and De La Soul's metaphor for rappers / MC's who submit to the exact same kind of sloth. |
