I think "if it gets away from us, dont pull it closer" refers to teachings of god.. "the damage revealed the cost, and it wasnt worth it but they'll never know" maybe talking about his confusion in religion and him trying to beleive.. but hes saying strong beleivers wont ever see what he sees.. "to keep in mind the line that seperates idols" im not sure but maybe imagining god for something hes not like anthony doesnt see him as being as great as everybody says "if the world is a dream, and nothing is worth it" maybe he thinks all of his effort will result with nothing in return for him. "unless you have a god (we're all going to hell)" referring back to last line, i think hes saying that it will be worth it if you have a god, but by saying we're all going to hell i think hes saying that nobody really has a god hes not there.. "we wont be saved, we'll live as slaves to love" once again we wont be going to heaven, we will just be "enslaved" by this feeling of love our entire lives "what god takes away, lets refill all our holes with mud" by things happenining that people dont want to they will fill these voids with false hopes for example everything happens for a reason would be mud "purchase your tickets, im kicking all your crosses down"i think maybe by kicking all your crosses down destroying false hopes or having doubts of faith "all the voices sound like you" all of these people say the same things who have faith.. everyone who is enslaved by love maybe.. "breathe in" like holding breathe hes waiting for aa result "its been so long ive felt so wrong" its been so long since he has truly felt faith and he is ashamed by this.. "I fixed myself up nice but you never came" he triedto do everything right but he had so signs from god like he hoped for in return, again false hopes "the words rolled off our backs and sound the same" turned his back on the words of god yet he still has some hope.. "ill be waiting" waiting to see results maybe "i hope that its worth it but ill never know" he hopes that following god turns out to be worth it, but since he has turned his back on it he wont know thats my interpretation by myself but i might be completelyy wrong.. just how i see the song.:) hope it makes sense for you |
