Wow this is such a powerful song!!! For me it is due to the rare occasion of kate swearing in her song. In my view this song maybe about losing faith in love..."For I am sick of love" and then shows of people have sex for only instant pleasure so one night stands maybe...with no meaning in the love. "Comfort me with apples" Poison apples from adam and eve. As in the only comfort is death pain for pleasure thrill of a wild life maybe? "And sign it with a kiss" A signature leaving just a memory like a famous person person maybe? People who see themselves as above others not worth there time maybe? I can see there been so much more hidden in this song and thats the beauty of kate!!! Peacea and Love! Soybn! |

Oh this is by far my favourite kate bush song ever!!! Such a shame it was never put on an album yet at the same time i'm half glad it wasn't as it makes it even more special. I dont want to go into the meaning of the song as i think it will be different for everyone. Thats part of the beauty of kate you can draw whatever view you want or can find from her lyrics and relate them to your own life! I love the line "do you fear the dark?" its the sort of thing you'd say to a young child...yet the next line is so comforting! She could help anyone get through tough times with her words and magical voice! Another time i'll go over this song in a hell of alot more detail because its worth it! But for now... Peace and Love! ahh much as this is a beautifully sad song about someone cheating on someone hence the title i've seen another meaning in the lyrics. Well lets start with the first line "All that she said was true" maybe not been a truth but saying true as in yes i agree thats what happened. then "All that she meant was good" she tried to do something and it didn't turn out how she wanted? Maybe there for a friend and someone mistaking that as something more? Or even did do something wrong but seem so right at the time..."Give her some time Give her some space" refelctions on boths sides i would think on the situation here..."How you reacted was right" Yes i ammit i was wrong whoever did it...reaction may be one of anger depending on extent of problem...whats really sad is the title word "again" as if this happens many times over. Hence the repeated lyrics many times! I guess we all know when your in love you forgive what ever that person has done as they are forever perfect in your eyes. I maybe be very wrong who knows... This is a pretty depressing song even as far as radiohead go. The line "I float down the Liffey" seems to bee about the river in Ireland which many people have pointed out...noting here that Ireland have a pretty high suicide rate. "I walk through walls" this is a clear reference to been a ghost and leads me to think this song is about the after life. Yet smendler's comment above really interested me its certainly one to think about. However what i think this song is about is that him as a ghost is watching and following his own body in really life floating down this river.."The moment's already passed" already dead..."And I'm not here" not sure whats happending i am dead alive in limbo? "Strobe lights and blown speakers. Fireworks and hurricanes" maybe what is what like before his death i can picture a big scene with wild weather...it is certainly an amazing song and one of my radiohead favourites!!! Not sure what its about but i do know this song gives me an unearthly feeling like it was written beyond grave as a warning to the human race...hold on maybe holding on to our planet? maybe...the use of everybody is as if he is talking on a whole race scale...maybe a warning about global warming? the planet becoming inclosed into the fear of our planet been destroyed...whats going on? questions with no answers been repeated? desperation maybe this might provoke panic...it some how scares me that if this was the National Anthem then i wonder what sort of world we are all turning into...but hey who knows i may be wayyy of!!! At first listen i thought this song was about tourists rushing around all these great places trying not to miss anything taking pictures and so on. But nobody was just still back and taking in these great tourist attractions....but then i came up with a little theory of my own and i thought how maybe this song is about aliens "At a thousand feet per second" going around space and then how thom maybe wants them to vist earth "Hey man, slow down, slow down. Idiot, slow down, slow down" As if he wants to be with them and these aliens are tourists to our very own planet! This song makes me rather sad though as in my view its about people not seeing the true beauty in this planet! But who knows i may be wrong Peace and Love Soybn |

Ahh right i love this song!!! Meaning wise i'm not sure if people know about this but before jim morrison was in the doors there was a band called Rick and the Ravens there was 6 of them and one night one member left. They had a gig due that night and was told they could only play if they had six people! So they called on jim (who can't play the guitar) to stand around and pretend to play so they could do the gig! So thats my view where this song came from!!! Interpret this story however you wish but keep loving radiohead!!! Peace and Love Soybn |
