Nice thought, yhtrownu! For me, this song is about a one night stand (hence the "The forest is thick", "Need more people to be satisfied" and "You come into our minds and rush through our lives") that turned out to be something more, maybe that the two lovers met more than once and got to know each other, ending up not knowing if they could be more than lovers. The entire song has of course many sexual references, such as "In a wide open field we know we can feel Awake and unreal, off to nowhere" with the first line implying the pure sexual pleasure, and the last part implying that they knew each other, but knew that they weren't meant for each other. The same goes for the line "The only thing you've got, you know you're better off without it". The lines "Youngest fire, you decide You decide what is right" is another example where there is a total mash up between the sexual and yet emotional attraction expressed in the relation between the two lovers. |
