that sounds right, and i agree, this song is sooo amazing. its like how at first relationships are so fun and exciting and amazing, but then things have to get serious and you have to take care of each other...and they didn't so it got messed up, and it ended..but maybe they got it all wrong, and they shoudl try again. |

i love this song. and i really like m3's interpretation, about a couple that breaks up and promises to be friends, but one doesn't. and all of the good times are covered up by the bad memories of them maybe seeing each other and not talking. this song is beautiful and guster is amazing. |

if brian said it's about the band, then of course it is, but i interpreted it to be about a revolution when i first heard it.
it's like a group was living in fear, made their escape to somewhere new, and were struggling to maintain their new civilization and live the way they wanted while at the same time trying to hide from their original leaders. eventually, they were discovered and attacked. they tried to protect themselves but basically, they were back to living in fear...and pretty soon the spirit was a lot like what it used to be back home. |
