@1ndependenceday- he is making a connection to the play/film Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf with his use of "mousy," which he does pretty much whenever he uses that word. The "mousy girl" in that story is one of the people that the mean couple invites to dinner, and as the hosting couple turns sadistic and violent in front of their guests, the mousy aesthete of the story watches fascinatedly and screams "Violence! Violence!" This is referenced to in several of Kevin's songs, apparently it's his favorite scene. @fakeorforced- aria is definitely meant to be there. It is the high solo vocal part in an opera, traditionally sung by a young boy. The aria bleeding and the boyish voice leaving would be his transition into fatherhood; he can't run around playing the part of a little boy anymore. Kevin Barnes, frankly, wouldn't make up pointless words like that: He is more of a poet than a lyricist. All of the lines in this have meanings. |
