Cheap Girls – Ft. Lauderdale Lyrics 15 years ago
From an interview with the Colorado Springs Independant (Q = question, IG = Ian Graham [bass/vocals]

Q: "Fort Lauderdale" is a catchy song. Have you ever actually been friends with a Fort Lauderdale waitress?

IG: No, I don't actually know anybody there. A kid at a show of ours was from there and really excited that I was gonna have this great Fort Lauderdale story. But I know nothing about Fort Lauderdale.

Q: If you ever do play there, will you scream, "How you doin', Fort Lauderdale?"

IG: Yeah, and then we'll just play that song for 45 minutes, over and over. Sell some records.

It read like something straight out of a diary. This kind of shit is the essence of emo, kiddies. That black-hair-dye & arm-scratching shit is weak and lame. This is the kind of song Rights of Spring might write.

CG also plays the shit out of this live. Adam can shred like a motherfucker and it doesn't always come across on the albums.

The Replacements might have something to say about that but, yeah, Cheap Girls is a great band.

Cheap Girls – Stop Now Lyrics 15 years ago
"I choose murder over heart attack" is probably a reference to the Old '97s song "Murder (or Heart Attack)." Guitarist Adam Aymore is a fan of the '97s.

Cheap Girls – All My Clean Friends Lyrics 15 years ago
An old girlfriend who moved away comes back for a visit. You are still doing the same bullshit that forced her out the door. Until you see her again you hadn't felt ashamed. Seeing her again reminds you of the plans and dreams you had together. It reminds you of all the people you have known who got their shit together and moved on to "better" things. You stayed the same and don't know why you couldn't find a way to change.

I'm proud and ashamed at the same time to be one of "those people there's no need to know in this city." We probably were 'supposed to be somewhere else' but here we were and "we" helped produce Cheap Girls. There is something to be said for that. Lansing-Made, for better or worse.
