I love this song. It's about a drug addict, who's trying to earn money but he can't seem to make enough. He steals money/goods from a man to sell, buys drugs, and that's why he starts feeling weightless, calm, and warm. He has to write a letter to his family claiming that he's feeling okay, even though he's clearly not over his addiction. Basically he's a lonely guy that doesn't see the point of life and doesn't think it has anything to offer him. So he just gets high and forgets about life. |

It's about two people who meet and fall in love, however, as time goes on, they start to resent each other and the man becomes physically abusive. The woman takes it at first, but then she tries to leave him. He promises her that he'll never hurt her again and he'll try to control his temper, but he's lying. He says that if she ever tried to leave again, he'd kill her. The woman knows that this is all just a lie, but she keeps going back to him because she loves him.
I think this song is especially powerful since Rihanna knows exactly what she is singing, due to her relationship with Chris Brown. |

The first verse is about someone who is numb and hopeless. He is about to commit suicide, but the singer is telling him that he is not alone and the singer will help him. I think the second verse is about a single mother who is deciding what to do with her child, and the singer is telling her that he will help her, too. And the final verse is saying that the singer will do anything in his power to help these people, but ultimately, he cannot decide their fate for them. "But I cannot move the mountains for you."
So it's basically saying that you are never alone in life and there will always be someone to help you, but in the end, everything is entirely your choice. |

Amazing song about a guy who feels lost and doesn't know what to believe anymore. The "machine" is probably referring to society and how people blindly accept most of what goes on. He wishes more people would find out what he knows, so he doesn't feel like a ghost, alone anymore. |
