This song is quite confusing. At first glance it seems to be about addiction (for obvious reasons and lines that previous comments have sited.) But I think the last line, "And I know you lie" leaves that to question. It sounds like a song about substance abuse, but could it refer to an unhealthy relationship and being unable to break away. Although the line, "I try to stay sober" directly implies trying to avoid intoxication, could it be a metaphor for trying not to return to that unhealthy relationship? Or is the line, "Which one lied?" which appears to be about choosing between two different truths, told by too different people, just a metaphor for the question of weather or not the substance is hurting them? |

I love this song. and the quote: "What's the hook, the twist, within this verbose mystery? I would gladly bet my life upon it That the ghost you love, your ray of light will fizzle out Without hope We're the empty set, just flowing through, wrapped in skin Ever-searching for what we were promised" This makes me think that he's putting this depressing and futile viewpoint on religion. saying that the light we see in religion has gone out or that god has abandoned us. leaving us to live our lives and still hold faith in the salvation he promised. |
