Amy Studt – Nobody Lyrics 15 years ago
This song isn't about having someone who's there for you no matter what it's about the total opposite. It's about being lonely. She's let her problems and her misery isolate herself from everyone and she doesn't feel like there is anyone who cares about her happiness or what she's going through. The "but you" is referring to herself, I thought that was obvious. IMO the problem she is going through is related to drug addiction: "light up another, I can taste the filth inside, I need to cleanse myself".

South – Paint The Silence Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is about a turmulous relationship. One with many ups and many downs, one that is probably ultimately unhealthy and filled with more sadness than happiness. These two people stay together despite the pain and hurt they may inflict on each other. It's "a combinations of love and aggression". They're addicted to the drama, even though it's not healthy. And after the storm, with the pain and the violence and the fighting, there's a calmness that the girl isn't comfortable with, so she keeps on sabotaging the relationship. The singer is saying "don't paint the silence black", in other words, stop ruining this relationship and just let those calm moments be. The references to "teething" reinforce this notion of an immature person lashing out from frustration and boredom, and the singer has had enough of it.

Groove Armada – Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control) Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is about running into an ex 17 months after the break up, and the feelings of bitterness and resentment and insecurity that come from seeing him. I get the impression he underminded her throughout their relationship, and seeing him when she's "on top of her life" makes her revert to feeling useless and worthless again. That's why she's telling herself to not worry or panic by his presence and to keep looking ahead and do her thing. She won't let him hold her back anymore or let her feel bad about herself.

Jamelia – Thank You Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm sorry but it annoys me when people associate a song like this with "a harsh breakup" the way clairebaby did (even putting a <3 after saying they got back together!) NO. This is not just a breakup that made you sad. This is about an abusive relationship and the lessons one eventually learns from them. Anyone who has been in such a relationship knows what it's like. It's not just about the bruises and the cuts, they heal. It's the immense psychological impact it has on you that's harder to get over. You lose the ability to think for yourself because you are under the other person's control, your heart becomes numb from all the pain, you lose your self esteem and your dreams and your ideals. Jamelia wrote this song based on her real experiences. She turned one of the most negative experiences a woman can have into something positive. I admire her, and I thank HER for this song. It speaks to me. My ex abused me emotionally, physically and sexually and he also stole from me, my work and my family. It has taken me MONTHS of therapy and counselling to be able to look at the relationship and see how it may have destroyed me in some ways, but it has has made me a stronger and wiser young adult. I learned my lesson the hard way, and so did Jamelia. I thank her for sharing this song with the world so it can help people like me.
