| I agree with the first person who commented saying it's about someone you can't have. As crazy as this may sound...I had a dream about this guy I have feelings for and this song put into words what occurred in the dream. In my dream we were laughing and looking so deep into each other eyes, the next moment I was in his arms laying on the floor. It felt so real cause I felt his touch and it was comforting. I can't remember what we were saying to each other....he hasn't told me in reality how he feels because he's with someone else and I think he's unhappy. Next minute he got up real quick turned the lights off to hide me because the woman he's with walked in and he left me in the dark. I felt so empty and was reaching towards him and he looked back at me and all of a sudden I woke up. So yeah really...I think this song is about him being with the girl in a dream cause he can't have her right now either because he's with someone or she's with someone and there's circumstances preventing them from being happy, and both can't tell each other their true feelings cause they are afraid of what can happen in the reality they both live. | |

this is supposed to be a site where you tell what you think the songs means... so I'll tell you what i think...=) you say hold on but I feel like I�m slipping away And you say hold on but it feels like I�m slipping away----- They were in a serious relationship and something has torn them apart... sounds like he's going in one direction and she's going in another. He doesn't know how much longer he can hold and try to make things work....it's hard to fake a smile and be happy when your really not.... he wants to give up cause he sees where the future is going. They aren't on the same page, and life just seems to have a way of doing that to people!!!! Social Atrophy...the way he is using it is him saying hey Talk to me.... let's get our feelings out...and she's the one who has nothing to say... she is in silence. Sounds like they had an argument. He wants to work it out but there is that "awkward silence"((social atrophy)) on the phone where emotions/feelings are just not coming out the way they want. So he's saying lets see how far we've come.... after all this time your going to just throw it all away??? Everything they've built together. Yeah go ahead walk around.... look at what you see... he's knows what to expect from the world and doesn't like what he sees. He could see anger, depression, poverty,, just not his form of happyness.... and when he was with her she brought him happyness and he wants her to see that!!!!!
