A few other have expressed the same idea, but I think Al.B.Crazy has said it best. The part that really sort of confused me was the "getting right with Jesus" part seeing as it doesn't usually seem like Maynard genuinely wants anything to do with Christianity. My opinion is that he means to actually more or less follow Jesus's teachings, to truly get right with Jesus, rather than to eat communion and stone gays. After all, morality was what Jesus was about, and too many people just get hung up on whether or not he was actually a messiah. Maynard ultimately has Christian values, as do most intelligent people, despite his rejection of the oppressive dogma. |

The paw thing is a pun Maynard seems fond of using because "dogma" sounds like "dog". Refer to Tool's Third Eye, in which he says "chasing the tail of dogma". |
