She was physically abused by her mom, a single mom of 6 children who picked them up & moved when they couldn't make ends meet, which was all the time. She describes home then as a "war zone" & was on drugs by 10. Probably basically raising herself. Was an athiest as a teenager, and moved in with her grandparents. After realizing Lacey was suicidal, her grandmother suggested she could maybe benefit from going to church, and she became a Christian soon after going. I know that her voice is so raw, so strong.. while @ the same time, vulnerable and emotional. I love this band. Especially the acoustic versions. Gives me chickenskin every time. :) |
