I'm in the exact position right now. I dated a guy, and he said "we will ALWAYS be together, i love you more than anything in this world" then he turned around and got another girlfriend, and just said "oh by the way i have a girlfriend. Anyways, how are you?" I wanted to fucking rip his head off, i was sooo pissed. It was long distance, so i kinda understood. But how he handled it was completley childish and just messed up. I hated him for a very long time, but i'm starting to realize if your always mad at them ; they win. What they did will stay in your mind FOREVER, and they will take over your life. I agree. Shottie's interpretation is well thought out, but if you really listen to the lyrics, you can tell when he says "Even if I say It'll be alright Still I hear you say You want to end your life Now and again we try To just stay alive Maybe we'll turn it around 'Cause it's not too late It's never too late," it's clear that he's telling someone who wants to end their life that it's never too late to turn things around.

I discovered this song maybe six or seven months ago,and y itunes says that i've played it over 350 times. I only listen to songs that i can relate to, and that have meaning for me. And for the longest time, i couldn't relate to this song at all. And one day i listened to it, and i started bawling, because when i listened to the lyrics, i realized i could completley relate. I'm in this really confusing long distance relationship, and things are always frustrating. We don't have a label like boyfriend or girlfriend, because labels make things not work (at least in our eyes). But we had talked for three months and it was clear we were in love, and when we can were going to live together, and be with each other. And this girl he's in love with told him she loves or likes him, and she wants to be with him. When my boyfriend told me this, i said "do you want to be with her" and he said that he did, and that they would probably date. I just didn't understand how he could do this to me and just forget me like that. And she cheated on her boyfriend with him. Obviously she isn't faithful, and i tell him all the time that if she cheated on her boyfriend with him, she'll probably cheat on him with another guy. In the end, i was right an he got his heart broken. I didn't want to be right, but i knew it would happen. but he just didn't listen to me. |

I really love this song. Even though he's talking about something as deep and serious as suicide, he makes it sound happy and uplifting. My boyfriend is suicidal and everything he says in this song is just what i want to say to my boyfriend. I tell him all the time that "everything's going to be okay". Even though it's probably the most used saying for defense in suicide, it really is true. Things always get better, you just have to be strong and stick it out. |

This is how i look at it. This person is talking about self-harm, and how good it feels. To me, this "person" is my evil side. And by "evil side" i mean the part of me that likes pain, and likes to cut. It's telling me to just hurt myself so the emotional pain i feel will turn into physical pain and go away. And it's saying how good it can be. So to me, i'm having a fight with my evil side and my good side. My good side doesn't want to cut, but my evil side is telling me how good it feels.
