I think it's a shame they left out the long spoken part in the meat loaf version, makes it feel like it's missing something...

Wouldn't interpret it as god. More as a woman who loves him in spite of his faults or rather his past...
If you actually listen to the lyrics
"I'm not afraid if I live or die
I'm not afraid 'cause I believe"
is followed by
"Your love is blind, blind as a bat"
So he's not talking about some sort of religious belief. |

I guess in many ways this is about a girl, or lover in general. But I think it also fits with the theme of saw, about taking life/happiness for granted, and then finding yourself in a painful situation where the only solution is to either deal with the pain or die (taking your own life). The drug references are also obvious. But I find it hard to relate to because as far as I know no X Japan member has had any drug problems. |
