OK first off, I am not religious in any way, but listening to the lyrics of this song today I had an image of Jesus being beaten before being crucified. Bear with me... You break my back You won't break me All is black But I still see He's being beaten half to death but his will stays strong. He still sees because, well he's 'god'. I made a god out of blood Not superiority Jesus was -supposedly- god made flesh. Sent down to show the true message of god. People at that time were barbaric, using their religion as an excuse to torture and murder. Jesus came to correct that. Wake me up in anarchy The "second coming" of Jesus. The end of the world so they say. There's more, obviously the nailing to the cross line, but I'm in a hurry and should not be messing around on the internet! |

I guess long hair (on a man) is still seen as a sign of a social deviant. "It increases my paranoia Like looking into a mirror and seeing a police car " People's first impressions are based on looks. Someone who 'looks the part' is always going to be the first to be accused (at various times that could mean black, long-haired, tattooed or a skinhead etc). Life might be 'easier' in some ways if we all conformed and gave up our individuality, but it would be a miserable life. Of course the song's not just about hair, but it's a simplified way of looking at the bigger issue.. |

The chorus always sounded to me like the result of their manager going "Okay this is a very angry album, you've gotta put something happy in there!" It's like suffer suffer pain pain pain (chorus) On it's alright after all! - back to suffering. I'm not complaining though, I love the song :D |
