After a year of listening to this song, i finally came up with a meaning. Its completely made up and applied to my life but it works I think its about a really "perfect" family. And everything has gone as planned, but they kind of think something is missing and need someone in the family who rebells, or just doesn't perfectly live up to everything they wanted, a kid that would make his own identity and take his own path. A family of trees wanted, to be haunted. Then its about the kid and his life, and how all the tiny decisions he made led him towards how he is today. You pick the insects off plants, no time to think of consequences. I think this line is kind of a play on the butterfly effect. Like the little kid is playing and picking up bugs and looking at them, and he has no idea that everything hes doing is leading him towards his future. Every thought and decision the kid makes leads him towards his destiny. "you were a child Crawling on your knees towards it. Makin momma so proud but your voice is too loud. Your mom loves you and is proud of you, and everyone can kind of see that the kid special, but your voice is too loud, sometimes the things the kid does are just too crazy and unruly, the kid is just always kind of pushing the limit of what he can say and do. Hes always looking for attention from his parents but the never really give him what he wants. The water is warm but its sendin me shivers. Youre envronment seems perfect to society, like a perfect family and a perfect life. The water is warm. But you can kind of see the lies and problems with the life and how it doesnt work, its sending shivers. decision to decisions are made and not bought. The kid just keeps growing up making his own decisions, not buying his decisions form what his parents tell him. And when he does something his parents told him not to do, but he never understood why, it doesnt really hurt. The decisions that are supposedly bad dont really hurt. I thought this wouldnt hurt a lot i guess not control yourself take only what you need from it. The kid finally realizes that his path eventually leads to going away from the plan his family has for him. He needs to control himself, not get so absorbed in what his family and society thinks he should do, to only take what he needs to grow up. Crazy song and really good. I like the idea that its about destroying the natural world too. It doesnt really matter what you think it means, just that you realize it has to mean something. peace |
