I'm liking the Narcissus reference. For anyone who might not know that greek myth, basically he was a really good looking (but super arrogant) man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pond and stared at it until he died.

Maybe he's singing to a girl whose sister is very beautiful (fair)? She's so accustomed to guys pursuing her sister that when she notices him, she "turns her eyes" because she thinks she won't be good enough for him and that he will probably just end up interested in the sister instead. She's obviously wrong, though, and he wants her to know how he feels without being rejected.

The hidden message in the album cover for this song is "Toby." Toby Hemingway played the guy in the video for "Mine," and there were lots of reports that they were supposedly dating. One thing, though, is I don't think she wrote it about him.. unless they met before the video? I don't know. Maybe there's more than one Toby lol. |

Yeah, it's "big enough so you can't hit me." Pretty sure it's about a critic who wouldn't lay off her to the point where they were pretty much just bullying her. At first I thought it seemed a little childish, but now I have to admit that this is how I would react to someone determined to make me look bad. This song seems like more of how she was affected by the jerk, and not so much just an angry message to them.. I don't know. Kudos to her for not letting him/her get her down though. |

I love this song. I know it's about her mom or whatever, but when I listen to it I think of my dad. I really want this to be my father/daughter song at my wedding, even with all the obvious mom hints. |
