Nazareth didn't write the song, I think the Everly Brothers might have written it, they certainly recorded it, in the 60s I think. It was also recorded by Roy Orbison, and numerous others, Cher included. When this was released in Australia in the 70s, another artist (forgotten who) released an upbeat pop version at the same time. Both versions were hits but this emotional version by Nazareth stands out. By the way YouTube has several clips of different singers eperforming the song, but I still can't find the "pop" version. |
