| hmm that sounds interesting and horrible but an even worse situation is when a guy goes off to the army or marines or something and stays with his girlfriend (or even gets engaged sometimes) but then cheats on her constantly when he's away and still comes back to her when she's been fully committed to him while he was gone. lol sorry really random, but my friend is a marine and he told me how often it happened yesterday | |

Ok so I have a question: I agree that this song is about fame, but what does this part mean? "With your backless black dress soaked to the skin When it's said and done they're all scrambling" Thanks! (Just a bit confused how to tie that into the fame thing.. I didnt really think it was about "shagging famous people".. but maybe I'm wrong!) Oh and I love the verses with "everyone deserves the flame".. it's like they are noticing that it is so hard to make it in the music industry, and they feel bad for all the great artists/bands/etc that are out there but just werent lucky enough or advertised enough or whatever to gain the same success that they had. theyre really grateful for all their accomplishments and want people/fans to know that they are in the business to do something they love :) |

| Fall Out Boy – Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| well.. I think that was a really good interpretation.. but as for the "hand behind this pen" line I feel like it could mean one of two things, depending on if its really "relives" or "relieves" a failure everyday.. if its really relieves, then I agree with the above comment (I always thought thats what he was singing in the song..) AKA the only way he can relieve his loneliness at all is by that, BUT, if it's really "relives" like it says in the lyrics.. I was thinking more along the lines that him having this affair or even just getting involved with girls that are either not into him or are already taken is "normal"/what he does.. everyday he makes the same mistake of falling for the wrong girl, and it kills him, so at the end of the song he is hoping to do anything he can to make her feel bad for basically leading him on or whatever. | |

| I take back the cheating part... there didnt necessarily need to be cheating involved; either way, his love wasnt enough for her anymore. | |

This song can basically be summed up by the chorus: "and all i got is a big broken heart and memories i cant drink away just because the man i was wasnt enough to make you stay the heaven we had the hell that I'm going through but other then that their aint much left of lovin you" I think the song represents someone falling out of love with someone. This person is "going through hell" because of their failing relationship--which probably resulted from the woman cheating on him ("the man i was wasn't enough to make you stay"). He is trying to cope with his loneliness as he remembers all the memories they've shared, but he is trying to get over her because other than their history, there's no reason that he should stay and continue to love her in the same way he did before. |

And we both go down together We'd stay there forever Just try to get up And I'm sorry this wasn't easy When I asked you Believe me And never let go After listening to this song for awhile and reading other people's comments, I think this verse is best interpreted (in my opinion) that two people fall in love and they had promised that they would love each other forever. But, the one that wrote the lyrics and sings it is implying that he fell out of love with her and he is sorry that it happened. He understands that they made promises to each other and he doesn't want her to be hurt; "Believe me and never let go" could be an example of something he had said to her to convince her how much he had loved her in the past. Well, I'm thinking of the worst things That I could say to you But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore I think that this small verse is hard to interpret because it could be alluding to the "secret" meaning behind the song, hence the song title. This verse may contradict my thoughts that he was the one that fell out of love; maybe she was the one that fell out of love with him, broke his heart and promise to him, and that makes him angry at first. And this never will be right with me And now you're trying desperately But I'm tongue-tied And terrified of what I'll say This could go along with the first verse: he will never feel right about the promises he made and broke about loving her, she is desperately trying to win him back, but he doesn't know what to say and is scared to talk about the issue at all. And then we both go down together We may stay there forever I'll just try to get up And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy When I asked you Believe me You never let go But I let go This is the same as the first verse except that it says "I'll just try to get up"... so maybe this implies that he fell in love with her first? Or he initiated the relationship with her first? But for some reason, he had to get out of it... maybe he didn't want to give up at first but he had to, it just didn't sit right with him. But he eventually let go even though she still loved him. I could only sing you sad songs And you could sing along And you could see the melody That's been calling out your wrongs This verse confuses me--maybe there was something wrong with him; he fell faster than her or something. Maybe she could "sing along" by playing along as if she loved him as much as he loved her? Or, maybe he found out something about her that she was trying to hide--like she cheated on him or was hiding something from him, but she was good at skirting that issue; she "sang along" by pretending everything was okay. The last two lines could imply that she could always predict when he was trying to approach the issue... And this never will be right with me And now you're trying to desperately But I'm tongue-tied And terrified of what I'll say But I never told you everything I'm losing hope and fading dreams And every single memory along the way He really wants to talk about whatever issue has been on his mind that she has been trying to avoid--the last two lines makes it sound as if this is the point in time where he decided to give up with her. She has been trying to skirt the issue too much and he is finally losing grip of the love that he had had for her. Haha what do you guys think? |
