This song has been stuck in my head for a long time but I never bothered to try to understand the meaning of it until recently. I have been rethinking my religious and theological beliefs and this song sums up the hopelessness I feel about my one chance to get it right. From a general Christian standpoint, everyone has one life, one chance, to please God, but at the same time people wander around and eventually die (I've seen so many ships sailing...). If we're lucky we'll be on the right track, but ultimately our chances are slim. I completely agree with the song when it says "I just don't think that it's right", to me I don't think it's right to think there is one right for our one chance... If that makes any sense. Just some thoughts, not necessarily what I think this song was intended to mean. |
