I always thought that the Captain had returned home to his son, only to be turned away since he had chosen the sea and his shop over his family. His son, having not seen his father in so long, originally didn't recognize the Captain, but upon hearing his voice it all became clear. Hence the Captain yelling "I miss you" at the end of the song. Truly powerful though. When that realization hit me, it completely changed the entire album, in a sense. |
