| Here We Go Magic – Land of Feeling Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This is a really powerful song, probably the most arresting on the album. The meaning is difficult to figure, but it seems like its perhaps written to cheer up a friend struggling through a rough patch in his life: someone frustrated with the world around them, trying desperately to break out of the doldrums they are in. Temple is sympathizing with this friend, telling him he was a kindred spirit in the way they see the world, but also trying to convince him to accept reality, and simply "be happy to be here", that its easy, you just have to accept that heartache is a part of life, that the hurt can actually make you feel alive, and that it actually serves as quite a visceral reminder of the juxtaposing positive emotion we can feel from love and friendship. Just have to wade through murky waters to eventually arrive at something fulfilling. Its touching to think that he has had a friend that he is trying to cheer up, i think we have all known people who struggle even more than ourselves to navigate life's tricky waters. |

| Deerhunter – Dr. Glass Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| wow, this is an amazing song. I love the more reserved and delicate deerhunter songs. this track has a restrained tension and melancholy in it, it immediately hit me, reminds me of the sensations we feel when the world has us down. Things around us seem useless, wasted, unnecessarily cruel and meaningless. Even the things that should be beautiful or positive, just seem false. Cox captures that sentiment about as well as anyone in music today. Although its interesting that this song has an upbeat rhythm with handclaps and group vocals, the keyboard chords are unmistakably melancholy. Brilliant song. | |
| Arcade Fire – We Used to Wait Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I like the use of synths, its new for them i think, and the production is more professional sounding, crisp and tight. You hear it on the group vocals, which usually seemed like live takes before, but at the very end when they sing "wait for it!" there is some heavy processing on the backing vocals, it creates a really fantastic intense sound. Production has always been my niggle with arcade fire, it always sounded like songs were recorded in a living room(some actually were!), but i really prefer this production method more-its less organic maybe, but you get much more nuance, detail. So overall, a magnificent track. Lets hope the whole album is this good. |

| Here We Go Magic – Casual Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| amazing song, beautiful relaxed feel, almost ethereal, sublime synths and vocals, but underpinned by an almost contradictorily propulsive thumping bass line. those kind of juxtapositions always seem to create "magic" in songs. | |
