Apocalyptica – I'm NOT Jesus Lyrics 14 years ago
"Aborations fill your head"
D...do you mean "aberrations"? "Aberrations" more or less means "the instance of straying from the right or normal way, especially morally", whereas "aborations" means absolutely nothing, and the closest word to it is "abortions", which makes no sense in the context and has too few syllables anyway.

"When your world comes crashing down - I want to relive"
This one I'm likely to be wrong about, but I always heard it as "When your world comes crashing down, I want to be there". That line is given later in the song, but I don't think it ever was anything but that.

Breaking Benjamin – Without You Lyrics 14 years ago
Yeah, that's among my favorite lines in the song, though basically in the number one spot. Potentially quotable (used when commenting on my then-newly-single status) and just overall good. I'd argue that basically every line close to the end is brilliant.

Stone Sour – Sillyworld Lyrics 14 years ago
If I may be closed-minded for a second, you're close but not quite. I'm pretty sure that Through Glass (same album, different song) is about that very thing, whereas this is about how our world has become nothing but meaningless symbolism ("Peace is just two fingers now/Peace was just a phase").

Breaking Benjamin – Without You Lyrics 15 years ago
Incredible song--among my favorites by them.
Because I have stupid ways of interpreting songs, it vaguely reminds me of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. Eurydice dies of a viper bite and Orpheus, in grief, played a mournful song on his lyre, so beautiful that it practically melted the hearts of the gods, to the point where Hades, normally stone cold, allows Orpheus to have his wife back on the condition that he doesn't look back until they reach the surface. He complies with this until the last second, where he looks back in excitement, forgetting the promise. Eurydice's spirit disappears, never to return.
The reason I find this similar? "All I have is one last chance" (Orpheus has one last chance to be with his lover), "If you fall then I will too/And I can't save what's left of you" (while he did not come with her, it still reminds me of the story), "Sing something new/I have nothing left" (he sings to the gods), "Swallow me under, and pull me apart" (he eventually died being torn to pieces by Ciconian women), "I'm with you, forever, the end" (he spurned the love of women after Eurydice's death. Granted, he then settled on little boys, but that's not relevant to the task at hand. =P).

Linkin Park – Valentine's Day Lyrics 15 years ago
Fantastic song. I'm always surprised when the people I talk to who both know LP and don't know this song--it should be more popular, just because it's really, really good.
This is a clear-cut song about death (which, considering the music done before MtM, is very different for them. I'm not counting anything on A Thousand Suns, just because I'd prefer not to think about that album); my thoughts on it are that it's about a person whose girlfriend dies, and either she dies on Valentine's Day or they bury her on Valentine's Day (the lines "And the ground below grew colder/as they put you down inside" and "So now you're gone/And I was wrong/I never knew what it was like/to be along/On a Valentine's Day" kind of give me conflicting ideas on which it is), and it's just his sadness, his feelings of being alone.

Stone Sour – Miracles Lyrics 15 years ago
As for what it means, I sort of agree with Theworldneedsmusic.
It pretty obviously is about a breakup, how he wants her to stay.
Using the lyrics I hear (which may be wrong), "Waiting here tonight for you to call / but your love just disappeared" shows that he wants here back, but she doesn't appear to love him anymore. "Waiting in the dark for miracles / but miracles don't happen here" is calling back the her calling, or her coming back in general--the "miracle" is her loving him, which, again, doesn't appear to be happening.

All in all, the lyrics are pretty incredible--I rarely see good lyrics in modern rock music, but this is fantastic.

It appears that there are many disagreements on the lyrics.
I always heard it as "Waiting here tonight for you to call / But your love just disappeared."
As well, I hear the lyric "I only want my promised other" to be "I only want my promised daughter."
Either way, it's a fantastic song. I really like their new album.

Evanescence – My Last Breath Lyrics 15 years ago
Absolutely beautiful song. Probably one of the best songs on Fallen. Here is my, probably incorrect and overthought, interpretation:
I think it's another song about her sister; to those who don't know, her sister apparently died when they were both young (Amy was six and her sister was three). I find it to be in the view of her sister, as she is dying, in the arms of someone, possibly Amy (while this is probably not how it ended, this is just my imagination of it).

Hold on to me love
You know I can't stay long
All I wanted to say was
I love you and I'm not afraid
(Her sister is saying to hold onto her. She can't stay long as she is slowly dying, just wanting to say goodbye first, and that she's not afraid to die.)

Can you hear me?
Can you feel me in your arms
Holding my last breath?
Safe inside myself
Are all my thoughts of you
(She isn't sure if she is even conscious, if Amy is able to hear her or not.)

Sweet raptured light
It ends here tonight.
(Self-explanatory. Seeing the light of heaven, knowing she is about to die.)

I'll miss the winter
A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree
(The first one or two lines are self-explanatory. The last two could be heaven, though I'm not sure. Interesting lines there.)

I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears
(Pretty much self-explanatory.)

Closing your eyes to disappear
You pray your dreams will leave you here,
But still you wake and know the truth -
No one's there.
(I'm honestly not sure what this is supposed to mean. It's pretty incredible, though. Could be that she was imagining being held and she is dying alone. Possibly saying just trying to die and Amy doesn't want her to. I'm somewhat stumped. Again, though, incredible lyrics here.)

Say goodnight, don't be afraid
Calling me, holding me, as you fade to black.
(Her sister is about to die, "fading into black," as in just fading away. "Say goodnight, don't be afraid" is Amy saying goodbye for one last time.)

Counting Crows – Anna Begins Lyrics 15 years ago
So it's very possible I have no idea what I'm talking about for this, but please bear with me.
I think this is a cycle of a relationship, starting with him not really in to it (the "friend" stated could be the girl he starts to go out with, her just starting as a friend) "Oh, you're changing" is him starting to like her, but she doesn't like him, yet ("if you don't want to talk about it then this isn't love"). One a side note, he seems to wish that she does like him ("And I guess I'm going to have to live with that"). They start to fall for each other, but they aren't sure if this is a good or bad thing ("'If it's love,' she said, 'then we're going to have to think about the consequences.'") Love blossoms completely regardless. ("She can't stop shaking/I can't stop touching her and...")
Later, he starts to be less and less sure of himself ("I'm not ready for this sort of thing"). However, he things that he should just ignore it and stay with her ("But I'm not going to break and I'm not going to worry about it anymore"). Even so, he's very unsure; unsure of himself, unsure of her feelings for him, unsure of anything ("It seems like I should say, "As long as this is love..."/But it's not all that easy so maybe I should/Snap her up in a butterfly net/Pin her down on a photograph album").
He's starting to get over her, he's starting to get confused from her, tired of her ("She's talking in her sleep/It's keeping me awake and Anna begins to toss and turn.")
So tired of her, in fact, he finally leaves her (The entire final paragraph, especially "IT's moving me along." I think that "bangs a gong" is only because it rhymes.)
