I think its about a guy who is in love with a girl who is not nessisarily better than him, just different. Like a bad boy dating a good girl kinda thing. "your most obvious weakness" is him and the part about you are everything I'm not is about how different they are. Because shes a good girl she doesn't REALLY want to get involved with him. so they sleep together but she doesnt want to get attached to this guy because she thinks he's lower than her (but not too close). He obviously likes her and wants to get closer but how close is close enough? "i just wanna break you down so badly" i feel like this is how he wants to bring her to his level. maybe he feels kinda angry that she thinks shes better and he wants to make sure she stays because he likes her. the verse about scissor shapes and violent red is about sex. the red is her skin because after you have sex you're hot and red. but they dont really get along because of their differences. after shas sex with her him just gets kinda disgusted with her "you hollow out my hungry eyes" meaning after they had sex she just changes into someone else who is high and mighty and wouldnt have sex with a guy like him. |

well i cant see this song as being that literal in being about the french revolution and so on. i see it more figureativly. He used to rule the world (he was powerful and strong.) but now he is not. he says- For some reason I can't explain,Once you go there was never, Never an honest word- which makes me think of it being about a woman? maybe he was "on top of the world" as some say and then she left him and now he's worthless and "saint peter will call his name", in my mind meaning he cant live without her. but i dont know. it could be about war and revolution. |

yeah, i agree that is one of the best interpretations yet. thanks:) only thing i wanted to say was some people were saying that hes literally mad/crazy. but i think it's figurative. as in your making me crazy, this relationship is making me loose my mind, so on. |

i agree with xloveforsale. the begining is saying that he has done wrong things, and so has everyone else. but others pray and hope the will go to hell, no die, ect. when its unavoidable. "I throw my hands up to the sky just to watch them burn" i think refers to him trying to hard to get into heaven and make up for the bad things, but its no use. so why try. "Count all this blood on my hands, To get me in. Save all the sins you can't stand, To cash them in" i think this is basically saying all the bad things he's done will definatly get him into hell and hes sarcastically telling everyone else to do as much bad things as they can bare so they can get into hell too because nobody can get into heaven. |

| without thinking about WHY he wrote it, i think it's basically about giving some one what they deserve. As in someone did something to him, and he hopes that he just chokes and dies. The chorus is about him mocking that someone when they fail, so, saying they get what they deserve and he's not going to help them. thats my take on it. | |
