There are slightly different versions of what happened with persephone. Because she ate pommegranates in the underworld, she was supposed to stay there (it was a rule; once you've eaten there, you must stay). Though Zeus requested her back on Earth, She was to stay on Earth part of the year and the other part in the underworld. Now, while she was in the underworld, the land went barren but when she came back, the land flourished.. Anyway, I figured Tori might be touching upon this but, with her you never know. |

Trent was actually upset that Johnny Cash recorded his song, because it was personal. Although Johnny Cash did ask for permission before he used the song, Trent thought it was going to be done live (like Trent covers Dead Souls by Joy Division). Anyway, after Trent heard Johnny's take on his(Trent Reznor's)song, then he wasn't so offended by it. But yes, Trent wrote it and i've never checked the album credits on Johnny Cash's album but by law, he has to credit Trent Rezner for writing it. |

Trent himself said the song is about Regret. We all intepret songs in different ways and sometimes think they have different elements, and they most likely do. If you write something personal, there are tons of thoughts circulating, not just one, so i'm sure some guesses were fleeting thoughts or emotions Trent himself felt. |
