Sonata Arctica – The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Real Puppet Lyrics 15 years ago
Everyone seems to agree that the master is killed.

But what I believe what happens is the he says he's going to kill him for the puppet, and then the master realizes that he wants to be the puppet, so he turns him into the "Puppet with the heart of gold". He puts the puppet man on the shelf until the show, that's where the verse:

"So I have the golden heart
Now only needing the voice of the master
Never feel hunger, never grow older
My dream was to be a star in a real puppet show"

Comes into play. he's waiting for the master to do the show. after awhile, the puppet man doesn't want to be constantly controlled by the master, so he asks to be a man again, but the master refuses. The master, then, uses a knife to mutilate the puppet man and never use him again.

As HighFlyer15 said, its sort of a reverse Pinocchio, only a lot more darker.

Porcupine Tree – Synesthesia Lyrics 15 years ago
Synesthesia is connecting two senses together. for example, smelling numbers, feeling letters, tasting colors. The title is really applying to "What you are listening to..." because the "Mind altering chemical" mentioned is called Synesthesia.

The song is about a soilder in war writing a letter home to tell his loved ones he knows he's going to die. He gets shot in the back, ("my back is full of lead") they put him on the stretcher. The line "they're lying to my face" part applies to what paramedics say to the person on the stretcher. things like "You're gonna make it" and such. He knows he's going to die, so they're just lying to him.

Porcupine Tree – Trains Lyrics 15 years ago
As there are five other pages of comments, I don't know if anyone else said this already or not, but the begining is obviously a train derailing.

"A 60 ton angel falls to the earth
A pile of old metal, a radiant blur"

The train being the 60 ton angel, falling sideways after derailing. Its then a "pile of old metal", a fire would be the radiant blur.

The rest of the song, I have no clue. But it may be important that the song leads into Lips of Ashes, though it could just be a transition.

Sonata Arctica – Gravenimage Lyrics 15 years ago
I thought basically the same thing, but in my opinion, I think the romantic interest made him choose between music or their relationship, and he chose music. The line "I play a note, but hear no sound" is saying that he has lost his passion for music since he had to give her up for it. Yet he continues to play, since, to him, "silence is a crime" (Meaning he doesn't want to waste his talent). the last verse:

"If I found the hidden fountain,
Drank the wisdom from its deep,
Would I have the time to save me?
Would I have them both to keep?"

This is saying if he had more wisdom/time (I am also confused on which one he would want, maybe both) would he be able to keep them?

So, basically the same thing, only a slightly different perspective.
