I actually see this song as a double entendre of someone in a long-distance relationship (obviously), but also as a love letter to someone with a drinking problem. After reading into the individual lyrics a little, and also linking the song with "I don't miss the way you used to drink" from Best Friend, presumably written about the same person (Guy Ritchie), I get a sense of intended ambiguity in the lyrics, something M herself has admitted to doing in the past. -Waking up from a "fuzzy dream" could be seen as perhaps a hangover -Looking right through someone, as the drink has hit their head to distort their vision -"If you could see me the way you see yourself", alcohol making someone see an elated version of themselves -"When no-ones around...becomes so clear" away from the party where drinking is seen as social, I see that there's actually a problem with the drink -The term "Miles Away" can mean both in distance and absence, as some previous users have stated -Loving someone more, having a slurred voice and being rudely truth, all effects of drinking too much Just my thoughts, let me know what you think |

| To me it sounds like she's breaking up with someone, but reluctantly. She feels she has to for some reason, but she feels bad because he's sad about it. She wants to comfort him but if she does that then she might fall back in love. She wishes it was him breaking up with her so she didn't feel as bad, hence the line 'I wish you could of had what I had'. | |

I think its completely different from being drunk and stuff. I think its about her being Stefani, and being bullied and insecure at school, and idolizing Gaga, making her feel ok. Stefani acts as a bullied teenager, like she was when she was at that age, and only feels better if she is doing something to do with Gaga. -I love that lavender blonde, -The way she moves, the way she walks She loves Gagas hair, and how she dances, and moves, and walks. Touching herself is about how Stefani touches herself over pictures of Gaga, and she feels alright when she does it. -And in the silence of the night -Through all the tears and all the lies, -I touch myself and it's all right When she's crying herself to sleep at night, because of bullying, she gets out some pictures of Gaga, and touches herself, and feels better. -Just give in -Don't give up baby Gaga's telling Stefani to just be yourself. -Open up your heart and your mind to me Gaga telling Stefani that she can tell her anything. -Just know when -That glass is empty, that the world is gonna bend.
