Just because someone sings about something, it doesn't mean they did it. I am definitely not saying Oberst never did any drugs, and for all I know he could have done heroine. ------But he never had a mother drown a little brother of his in a bath tub either. A lot of people confuse songs with reality when sometime they are fiction. --------- Sometimes that's what songs are, fiction. But also, sometimes they are emotionally and philosophically attached to the writer to create a first hand account. |

| I think you are on the right track. But I feel that Oberst creates a lot of songs too. It could be possible that it is biographical, but I think he creates fiction a lot of times in his songs. A lot of singer/song writers make up stories that fit an idea they want to get across. | |
