I understand what you're saying, and most songs have a meaning. But this is a Paul song, and his meanings aren't usually hard to find. I think it's mostly for fun, because he wanted to do something with a light sound but dark lyrics.

I thought this sounded a little childish, but it's great. I can totally relate to it, as can anyone else who's ever been bullied. I suppose in some lines, I could see how it could be a boy she's talking about. But I really thought of it as a girl. A really big, mean, girl. ;) |

My first impression of this song was about a boy, because there were references to painful memory's. I thought of the window thing as an actual window, as in a boy would climb through her window to see her. And that she was hoping he would come in the window like the rain does. It still makes sense to me, but I like the other options. I like the idea of the rain as cleaning. I can see this song being about a boy or a friendship.
I can relate to the friend problem. My best friend (not my best anymore) used to be really close, we would share everything. But we started to drift away from our group of friends. I accepted it and let go, but my friend did't want to lose them as friends. I mean, neither did I but there was nothing I could do and I'm still friends with those people anyway.
SO she started doing anything she could to hang out with them, which included unintentionally ignoring me. I've told about how she ditches me and disregards my feelings many times, and she apologizes but keeps on doing it. We stopped sharing as much and we used to have a really close bond. She was going through tough times with a divorce when we first became friends and I always helped her through. Then when I needed help she wasn't there for me.
Now I'm so tired of chasing after her I've just given up, but I'll always be here if she needs me.
