I watched an interview with Dirty Pretty Things yesterday where Carl said the song is about coming to terms with loss of dreams. And then another member said that it was not necessarily about one particular event that happened, obviously referring to the break up of the Libertines. To me, this song seems to be about loneliness. The person of whom the song is about has someone in his life that he gets along with and likes but there's not any sort of real connection between them. He can't find anyone who he really does connect with, no one who cares about his values. This is just how I interpreted it. |
