| Alkaline Trio – Clavicle Lyrics

I didn't know this song until a few months ago and heard of the band, but never listened to them.
One day, I was with my boyfriend and he pushed me or something, can't remember, but I said, "ow! you hit me in the clavicle!" and he said, "wait, you know what that is?" haha then he let me listen to this song because he likes this kind of music. It's a really sweet song I think, and instead of having a rather dismal ending, I like to imagine that he gets the call after the song ends. Now it's just sort of something we do, like some couples will give a random kiss on the cheek, but kissing the collarbone is a reminder that our relationship is special. It's like an inside joke. |

I like the way this song sounds, but I kinda disagree with the message. It's about being afraid to live life and aspiring to something higher; reaching your "full potential" basically. I just don't like how it's telling someone else that... like your life isn't good enough because you don't take enough risks or something. You know the best way to make someone feel life is worth-while? DON'T give instructions how to live it; just live and be happy instead of searching for happiness. It will come. |

I always thought he said "with ginseng in my blood" hahah
Anywayyy... I love the parts that say "I wish I could be the one-- the one who won't care at all" and "I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me." It just gives you the whole picture of the relationship and how crushed that person feels. It's like an awakening and finally accepting the fact that this person isn't right, but will never understand the pain. Like when someone says "I'll try" you can just tell how little emotion is there. When you really care, you hang on and never let go. You always remember because you miss what you lost or realized you could never have what you wanted. This reminds me of a relationship I had where I just kept saying "I wish I didn't care." It just hurts so bad to see someone whom you loved move on without you. I never had a problem with deception, though; just apathy.
I think in the song, it's talking about someone leaving for an unknown reason, then coming back to confess that she's cheated. She said she'd "try" b/c they wanted to make a long-distance relationship work, but she wasn't strong enough or didn't care enough. He basically feels like his world is falling apart because she was unfaithful and he doesn't believe in love anymore. So I guess that's different than my personal connection to the song, but I think that's the story conveyed here.
I love A7X and how they can tell stories like this in every song. Like A Little Piece of Heaven is so fucked up lol but it's probably my favorite song ever. |

I never really liked this song and just kinda skipped it if it was on the radio, but today I decided I'd listen to the whole song and give it a chance... Seriously, what the f... It's not that great in the vocals department, and it's a pretty average, unimpressive song, but wait-- there's more. The lyrics are so disgusting, I didn't even know what to think. Alien sex?! I can't believe someone even thought of that, or wrote it, or sang it, or put it on the radio. This song is trashy, offensive; just terrible. Too bad, Katy Perry had a good thing going for her with the inspiring song, Firework. Even songs like California Gurls could be sexy, but not flat-out wrong. I think this song is. |

johnmorisi, congratulations; you have exemplified why more songs like this need to be written. Saying that people born with disabilities are MISTAKES?! What the fuck is wrong with you?! Goth RETARDS?! This song is about loving yourself no matter how you were born or who or what you love. You were created in the image and likeness of God and you need to stand up for the rights of yourself and others rather than bash people who are different than you. |

Yeah, you're totally right. That's actually pretty funny, that last part that you wrote about finding out she's easy. However, maybe we have to consider that her character is really that shallow and only requires that little bit of knowledge to be understood. I think they're definitely on the wrong page with each other, but that doesn't mean that what they're saying isn't meant for each other. |

This song reminds me of a breakup I just went through. Long story short, I was in love and he wasn't. At this point, I can say that I'm over it and I don't love him anymore. I always ask myself questions like will anyone ever love me? Is that going to change? and I don't know what the future is so I try not to expect anything, but at the same time a part of me is hoping. In that relationship, I really did build my life around him and really it was unhealthy, my obsession. I didn't want to get out, but I knew I had to and it took a long time to recover. Finally, I can say that I've changed and I haven't been in a relationship since, but I'll be more cautious I suppose. It really was like a landslide, like letting go and feeling like losing everything; feeling unstable. I let go of him and he took my love with him, whether it would last or not. |

| Nirvana – In Bloom Lyrics
|
That's a really good observation. I think all of the verses correlate and I never noticed it before.
Sell the kids for food; We can have some more
Weather changes moods; Nature is a whore
Spring is here again; Bruises on the fruit
Reproductive glands; Tender age in bloom
I can kind of make sense of it. I just get the notion that it's talking about the waste (sell them; they're useless) of today's youth (tender age), that we're growing (in bloom, spring), but we're lacking something (bruised). Spring is basically the season that represents reproduction so it's comparing the weather to our generation. It's actually pretty dismal and insulting, calling nature a whore when it's a metaphor for ourselves. I could also even make a connection between selling the kids for food and later saying that there are bruises on the fruit. That just takes it a step further saying that the generation is truly useless and can't be traded for anything better. That's just what I get out of it.
The chorus then explains why our youth is so lackluster and apparently the reason is because they only skim the surface of understanding. People act without thinking or feeling and become very shallow and superficial. I understand the message and I think it's a big issue, yet at the same time I think this song exaggerates. |

I think this is definitely about imperialism or relocation of a large group of people, namely the Holocaust. It sounds like it's from a third-person perspective, though. I can't stop thinking it's about a soldier who came to rescue people from concentration camps after the war (WWII) telling this to the people responsible (Nazis). I think this because it doesn't say, "we were here first," but, "they were here first." It seems like he's in shock about everything and is thinking about how it came to be. It does not have to be about WWII, it was just the first situation that came to mind. Someone else left a comment that it relates to a book called A Separate Peace. |

Oh, and with the lyrics for every verse, it's kind of like he's repeating himself over and over again because he's in denial every time. He wants to believe she'll miss him, though she probably won't, so he keeps trying. Even up until the end of the song, he says he's done waiting, then turns back around and says he's still going to give her all of his love. |

| Drake – Find Your Love Lyrics

It's just about being in love with someone who doesn't love you back, might even be using you. The music video takes it even further than that, sending the message that physical intimacy does not mean love. Even if people have sex, it doesn't always mean they are in love. The person in this song believes he is in love, and wants to prove that they can love each other, MAKE her love him. He doesn't realize that her motives are different and she doesn't want to love him at all.
I can relate to this, seeing things from his perspective, waiting and waiting, then finally realizing that if someone doesn't love me back by now, I'm wasting my time. |

I don't understand the animated carpet thing, but everything else makes me think it's about a woman with baggage thinking she's not good enough for a man because of her past. | Fair to Midland – Tall Tales Taste like Sour Grapes Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
Obviously this song is about spreading rumors or just badmouthing things/people and not wanting to hear it. Dragging names through the mud could also mean muckraking. Basically it's saying gossip(the devil, tall tales, hogwash, stone-throwing) is everywhere(in the air, within shouting distance, on the front page), but he is not one of those "rubbernecks" buying into it, no matter how popular. He says to "keep an ear to the ground" because he does not want other people to hear the gossiping about himself. Tell me a story... not to worry (not wanting to worry about other people/ their "problems") or pick up the phone (spread the rumors to others).
The song most likely represents the shift of focus to pop culture from knowledge and faith.
It's obviously a religious song as well with references to the devil, praying, and the church itself (these walls). It promises that within the walls of the church, one will be saved from gossip and verbal abuse. |

What's not to like about this song? It's simple, but that's what makes it relatable. Everyone can probably say that these words and feelings describe every break-up, no matter how it happened. Anger is completely natural and in this song, it comes out as hate, also natural for a break-up. After a break-up, a lot of the things that weren't realized before that could have been detected as signs that the relationship wasn't doing so well start to reveal themselves and this song is about just having that epiphany and dealing with the hurt and grief. |

This song kind of reminds me of Casper, the friendly ghost. The ghosts were "alive" because they had "unfinished business" and they died once they were content with their lives. I never looked at it that way, as a suicide note. It could be for suicide, but I think it's applicable to any death, really. I think that the ending is anything but sad, though. The song has a rather positive message just saying, "I'm dying, I've had a good life, and there's nothing I can do about it so don't cry for me." The "funny when you're dead.." part does sound slightly suicidal though, as if the death was intentional for attention. |

I think it means that she used to wear a ring (a promise ring) on her pinky finger, but the metal turned it green. She wore a promise ring so she is still a virgin and she'll wear white coming into the kingdom because she is pure. Saying that she's green means that she's young, like think of a tree how when it's young it's still green and when it gets older it turns more brown and gets drier and more susceptible to burning down, etc. She's "green" because she's young and pure. |

I thought it was "just smoke one cigarette and run" but Idk probably just me.
Anyway, I think it's about a girl who is breaking up with a man (Alejandro) because he's just like the men she's dated before. I think that maybe she wants to stay youthful and maybe things were always getting too serious before and that could be the reason why "her boyfriend's like a dad." Also, the halo around her finger could mean innocence plus the fact that she was referred to as a baby. I think that she's probably still a very young girl who tries to act older, then realizes she's not ready for commitment, gets scared, and runs away. That's what I could come up with. It's difficult to interpret. |
