I think the reason why is because the truth of how "we" allow/cause some parts of humanity to live with these threats speaks unto itself and doesn't need to be repainted in any darker light than it already is. | |

When I was growing up, from about 6 years old, I knew I wanted to join the Military. When I turned 18 in 2006, I had all the war mongering built up inside of me from the years past and I was more dedicated to joining the Military now than ever. I figure go big or go home, so I enlist as Infantry with Airborne school in my contract and $14,000 bonus, at the time i was like "Fuck yeah!". 82nd Airborne here I come, parachute infantry. Fast forward 1 year, in the middle of a 15 month deployment in Baghdad near Sadr City. Indescribable in its own right. I am not proud of the service I have done, this wasn't for the "Liberty" of our country. To me, this song is about those years of my life, 2007-2008, in contrast to 2011 and on where I am no longer a pawn of this corrupt nation. It makes me think about my friends who share similar view points on the subject. Oh youth, how naive we can be. |

Sorry for the long post, but this song has a lot of meaning to me, and I may have over analyzed it, but thats my interpretation heh. Also, I know devin has said himself that religion and politics has no place in his music. With that said, this is what I feel when I listen to Supercrush! So the time is right, so tell me if you wanna? - The time for advancing to a higher mental state lies in you, when you're ready. You should change it if you're gonna - Work on it, don't procrastinate. But I don't really know how... I've already tried... INVOLVE. - This kind of enlightenment does not happen over night, you need to be a part of practice and learning as this change would be a part of you. I don't want to save my soul now - I take this as pointing at christianity, without it, and most mainstream religions, humanity would have reached a much higher plateu than we are at now, spiritually and technologically. (note, the difference in religious and spiritual) I don't want to lose control - when one is learning to expand their mind and bodys, one fear that holds people from advancing is the fear of letting go, specifically of their body. This also points to the earlier verse "But I don't really know how… I've already tried…" And even if it takes a lifetime to learn I'll learn. - Look at the life of many sorts of monks. they may spend a lifetime to learn/understand/ascend/enlighten or whatever their cause. but the principal to me is the same. Don't fall in line… If you're thinking that you're gonna… - You cant always have these motives as the first priority in life, there is so much going on. And this song seems to progress so this seems as a reminder that its going to take time, don't give up. Give up, meaning fall in line, lose the unique creativity that gives you the ability to see your world differently than anyone else. And thus give up Self, giving way to the world around you to influence who your Self is. You should maybe think about a reason in your own mind… - Remember what you are, an individual, and the more you think for your self the more you have an identity. The more you own your own identity, self-image, will be more power you have to influence your dreams and desires. You've already gone! - Before you know it, your thoughts manifest and were acted upon in your subconscious. Your perception enhanced just by a new way of thinking, and it effects your decisions in life without your knowing. This whole verse is like a reminder in a way. EVOLVE. - A statement, desire maybe I'll learn… I'll learn… is like spoken word WE LEARN is like the action. I think refers to your other bodies that you are now aware of. All of them create who You are. Here's our defense, Heroes left you to die. - This way of living perceiving the world is a dangerous idea and frightens a certain type of person. Heroes could speak of Power, a person with power. Most of the men and women in charge of us have control over our lives in some indirect or direct form. Publicly it would seem a good thing, if you "Fall in line". They are there to protect you (government). But being an individual with the ability to analyze and think for ones self without bias is dangerous for these "Heroes". (Think about how "Free Speech" is treated in this day and age.) Hence why they have left you to die, because you didn't fall in line. YOU LEFT ME TO DIE! So even if it takes *our* lifetime to learn… I'll learn…I'll learn… *WE ALL* LEARN! To me this is a big statement against organizations that would put our minds in boxes so to keep power by minimizing independence. "I don't wanna lose control" refers differently this time as control over your life. The idea behind this song being evolving our minds, this WILL be impossible unless WE ALL LEARN to be free again. and hopefully this happens in OUR generations lifetime, its possible. |
