R.L. Burnside – Goin' Down South (with Lyrics Born) Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the lyrics to this one are actually pretty self-explanatory. Burnside is obviously singing about a woman in his life who had left him while he was still in love with her. He's also convinced in this song that she is still in love with him, whether she actually is or not is unanswered, and that he'll wait for her because anything else is worse then death. The lines, "More Lies, more conversations, Girl" suggests she's been lying to him about why she left. "You say you're hanging with another man. You got to get more creative, girl. I ain't believing you." Also suggests relatively the same thing and that Burnside really thinks she's still in love with him for one reason or another.
